To start off my family got a new Asus RT-N66U router about 3 weeks ago, set up was a breeze, and so far things have been working splendidly. This morning, I woke up to a note saying parent's desktop not internet. Oh boy, so I hop on my windows 8 machine and see if it has internet, and it does. Then I open um my macbook pro to see if it has wireless, it does.
So now I go to my parents Windows 7 Desktop, I check the cables, and reboot. No internet, windows says network cable unplugged. I know that's a dirty lie, so I go into the Network Controller settings, I disable and re-enable it. Presto, I connects to the network, and about 30seconds-1minute later it disconnects saying network cable unplugged. I uninstall/reinstall drivers, try to rollback the drivers to see if it helps. It doesn't. The only thing that works is to disable/enable the Controller and that only yeilds about 30 seconds of uptime.
i think it's probably a faulty controller card (Realtrek 11118DL). It's a built in controller card.
Any other possible solutions?
