As in the title my 3770k is idling 30-40 C. And prime95 puts the temps at 70-80 C. Internal temps, not the ones that corsair link are giving me. I am using Core temp to monitor since if gives me the freq of the CPU also. I used artic silver 5, I understand that it has a 300 hour cure time. I only used a drop of Tp the size of a grain of rice like the directions told me. I would like to know if my temps are normal and what kind of decreases in temps have people seen using artic silver5? Any experience that others have had with any three of these product would be ever so helpful too.

considering it gets up to 82F (28c) in the room those temps seem okay to me.
that is really high temps for a computer to operate in. I have been in server rooms in the summer you could almost see your breath because the temps were kept so low.
also remember that no normal usage of a computer will EVER get near Prime95 numbers.
It is well under the Tjmax temperature russk1 stated. i wouldnt worry about it. I bet gaming and normal apps dont go over 60-65c max.

This is the second time i am using the H80i. It was installed on fx-8320 OC @ 4100 mhz. The FX-8320 never went over 55C. I used 100% isopropyl to clean the chip and the h80i.

The ambient temps range from 25-28C and the pump temps range from 26-29C.

Looks normal... Ivy runs hot and some more than others. Look at the chip and see how much glue Intel used between the IHS and PCB... Too much glue = a hot running chip. Unless you want to delid there's not much else you can do other than undervolt. ie: use a negative offset voltage.

100% agree.

I'd not worry about Prime95 (unless testing for stability) and run something like RealTemp and go about daily tasks and see what the peak temps are.

Just to explain something
TJMax temperature is actually the safe max operating temperature of a CPU
it is approximately 5c-10c away from where the CPU will throttle itself
if you use Coretemp monitoring software it will read the digital thermal sensor DTS and tell you your delta or difference
to TJMax by changing the option in settings
the rule is that you dont go closer than 20c delta to TJMax
meaning with a 105c TJMax you dont go higher than 85C
as long as you dont go over 85c for any extended amount of time your CPU will live a long and happy life

remember that ambient room temps greatly affect cooling of course and that when most CPUs are tested that they
are usually in a 68F-72f (20c-22c) room which is considered to be "normal" room temps

I hope this helped

Also besides the fact that Ivy Bridge run a little hot for Intel CPUs dont forget that you have a hyperthreading CPU
Hyperthreading utilizes the unused portions of the core if possible to run another thread so HT cores actually run hotter
than non-HT cores due to a higher percentage of core being used.

wow this is great information guys thanks. I am thinking of moving my computer down stairs in one of the spare bedrooms for the summer. I dont feel like running the AC upstairs at full blast all the time.

The temp dropped to 40F today the day i was idleing @ 30 to 40 it was in the mid 70s. I was idling at 25-35C with the ambient temp around 20C.
