Hi again

I've decided on my gpu: powercolor 7950

But im at a loss over the cpu

my budget is about £850 and im looking at the fx 8320 which with all my rig combined is roughly £810

My RAM is 8GB corsair

650w PSU

1TB HDD

My Mobo is ASUS P8Z77-V LX or ASUS M5A78L-M - it depends on what proccessor i get.

I will play on a 1080p monitor and maybe doing 2 monitors.

I will be playing games such as Empire, Napoleon,Rome/2 total war and also plantetside 2, Arma 3, COH, BF2/3/4 and such like.

Which one will be best suited for me

PS

I know that the 3570 is better than the fx but please remember i am on a budget!
Also im NOT OC the cpu.

Thanks

James

I like Intel the most in every case, but at this time I would recommend the 8320 without thinking, due to :

1-It's an 8-core CPU, which gives you power in every task and longevity before you need an upgrade.
2-In case you ever considered OC , well ... (bingo) says it all .
3- Upgrade path-wise you can buy steamroller (AMD's upcoming chip) for the same MB you have because it's an AM3+ chip, intelon the other hand will force you to change the ENTIRE build if want to upgrade.

So, economically and logically ... AMD wins here

my vote goes to 8320 as its as good as the i5 in games at stock speeds and in the future it probably performs better than the i5! also in the future if you want to upgrade your cpu if you get the amd cpu you ll not have to purchase a new mobo but if you go with intel you ll have to!

Since you have no plans of overclocking, i would go the AMD route... save some $$$ (add a CM212 and you can get 4.4+ GHz on air, when you need it.)

you should notice no difference for gaming between the two brands. synthetic bench marks sure... but not gaming.

Hey thanks for the responses does anyone know how much of a difference I will get with the amd over the intel?

I might get a cooler and OC just to boost the fps if that would make a difference but I'm not really wanting to as I might destroy it :/

You got your answer, simply Intel here are locked chips while FX isn't and OC'ing would be easier and more productive with AMD.
