So I built a pc a few months ago and it's been working fine until today when I turned it on, I got no video, so I went though every way to fix it on the Internet but it still doesn't work, I put in a new video card, but that didn't change anything. I press on button, and everything lights up and the CPU fan spins and the video card fan spins and the motherboard lights up, but nothing. I have taken this pc apart and put back together 3 times today, and can not figure it out.
Specs: MOBO: Biostar TA970 GPU: gtx 560ti CPU: amd FX- 4170 POWER: Kingwin 750 watt RAM: 8GB BALLSTIX SPORT- CRUCIAL

James if the power good line on the power supply goes below 5v the CPU won't turn on the mb will be stuck in reset mode. I would try another ps. Also check that your USB ports not shorting the mb out. Pull everything off the mb other then power and video see if she post.

Don't I need some ram and the CPU for the motherboard to start? And could say the first sentence again, in didn't really make sense to me.

I did as you said, had just the power to the motherboard and the CPU, no ram, no hard drives, no video card, and I get no beeps. I'm guessing that's bad.

I guess I can do that, but is there any other steps I can take before buying a new power supply?

All that left is using the clear the CMOS jumper. Other than that you into part swapping. If you know a pc repair shop see if they can toss in a post it card. It can help you show if it a power issue or mb posting issue. Some mb have post it cards built into them (two number LEDs ). If there good power to the mb and a mb issue most new mb toss up post it code.

My motherboard only puts up one of the two lights, what does that mean?
