bad brand new hard drive?

Hi, I recently bought a brand new hard drive and installed it. when i click on certain programs it lag for a good few seconds before starting. especially for steam, it stalls for 5 seconds before starting up the program. is this normal or the hard drive is bad? help please asap. if its a bad hard drive i can return it.

What HHD did you buy? Anyhow, that shouldn't be normal. I have a laptop HDD on my PC and not even that one does it. If it's new you can return it for a new one.

I tried reading around and found nothing similar to your problem, except with older or slower drives than the one they had before. Try contacting the brand of your HDD and see how they can help you. Many of them have troubleshooting guides on their websites

Its a seagate barracuda 1 tb. should i rma this?
