I am considering getting a new monitor that will mainly be used for fps gaming specifically probably battlefield 4 mostly. I current have a viewsonic vx2035wm 20" monitor. I would be looking for something 1080p and available at best buy most likely but maybe also dell.com and a size of at least 20" and probably no bigger than a 24". I assume there will probably be a huge difference as it will be an upgrade to 1080p, from an 800:1 contrast ratio and to led. Does it matter if I get 2ms or 5ms or ips? Also the cheaper the better between 100$ to maybe 200 max.

I saw some people maybe suggest http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+23%26%2334%3B+Widescreen+LED+Monitor+-+Black/3706239.p?id=1218428704344&skuId=3706239

How will you know ? By what is in the advertisement ? Advertised response time and actual response times can be worlds apart. Many manufacturers advertise "black to black (cheating) others gray to gray (takes longer)....quality manufacturers often understate the response time. If ya see it here, ya can believe it

If you doing photo editing, look at IPS (Dell U2410 is a great buy right now)
If you gaming, look at 120/144 Hz TN (ASUS VG248QE)

I have both upstairs and while you certainly can enjoy yaself playing games on the Dell IPS, put it side by side with the Asus and it pales.

I should of asked does it matter that I have a gtx 660 I forget how many fps I get but i think it drops below 100 and with battlefield 4 it may be lower would that matter with a monitor like that 120hz one?

Nar a 120Mhz Monitor can handle it, your 660 isn't that old mate.

So how do the colors look on that vg248qe I see some saying they are not so great but are ok if you set them up right. My viewsonic 2035wm is pretty old and has I think 800:1 contrast ratio. I think I will look at the asus you mentioned and the 2 I did just a matter of price. I mostly only do gaming so I guess I don't have a huge need for ips.
