hp compaq cq40 not going on

hi i have a hp compaq cq40,when i turn the laptop on the power light shows and the charging light flashes and there no display.
Pls help

That problem is either HD or monitor.
First if you have other monitor and connect it to the laptop, boot the computer to see the display is OK or not. If you can see the laptop can boot up then it means the display problem.

If you still can't see anything, turn off the laptop by press the power button, and turn on the laptop again at the same time press the F8 Key to see you can go to the safe mode or not, if you can go to the safe mode, then select " load last known good configuration " and press enter to boot the computer. If you can't boot the laptop it means it is time to buy the new computer because it maybe cost more to repaire the cq40 than you buy the new one.
