Hi guys,

I'm about to build a new gaming pc not on a crazy budget and without the need to play crazy games. I certainly wont be playing skyrim and dont NEED graphics cards over $250.

I will only be playing Dota 2/CS and maybe something similar...

I've done a lot of research and imagine that something around a Radeon 7750 is suitable but i would much rather something quiet and willing to pay a little extra.

I have a HAF 912 lined up with Hyper Evo 212 on the CPU so it should have decent airflow and already be quiet.

I was keen on a MSI Twin Frozr 7850 2GB but i read that the whole 7850 range was quite loud and now i dont know what to do...

Please help! <3

FYI I have a 7850 and it isn't loud. I'll hear the fans when it's loaded running OC'd but I don't notice it while playing games, if it's idle you can't even tell it's there. A lot of your noise will also depend on choice of cases and component/wire placement.

Theres a ASUS 6950 1GB up for grabs for $99 or most of the Radeon 7750 Brands at around the same $100 mark....maybe just try grab the 6950 and if that doesnt work opt for the cheaper 7750?

I was really keen for a 7850 but i think ive scared myself out of getting it because some fussy person writes that its loud. =/

almost silent while gaming or while idle? In a sleeping house would it be audible from a few metres away?

Inaudible over ambient idle, noticeable under 30%-40% load but it sounds like white noise not annoying, distinctive under load. Unless your doing GPGPU it'll be idle most of the time. This is from 2 1/2 or so meters away. Plus if your computer isn't actively doing anything I'd recommending letting it go to sleep for various reasons.

Exactly this.

Plus 3 primo games

Ahk, so if I'm gaming at night it will be quite audible from 2-3 metres away?

The games look like a pretty nice sweetener...Is it worth getting the 2gb 7850 version for an extra $3

The asus, msi, and evga cards are usually fairly quiet. No matter what you get you should be able to adjust your gpu fan until its quiet enough. A passive cooler will be silent no matter what but you wont have anything better than a 7750

3 dollars then yes absolutely. I picked the one I had up for 30 dollars cheaper than the 2 GB version.
This sapphire version with dual fans is quiet and less audible than a coolermaster case fan.
It is very quiet you will be quite surprised. The 7850 is also twice as powerful as the 7750

The extra gig makes a difference according to the charts, besides for 3 bucks why not?
