Want to turn wireless router into a receiver?

Ok, I have a Belkin router that I want to turn into a receiver, to pick up signal from my dsl wireless gateway. I want to be able to plug another computer into the Belkin with an ethernet cable, just don't want to run 75 feet of cable to it from my dsl modem. Is this possible, and if so can someone please explain it to me, in (relatively) simple terms? Thank you in advance!

What you want is to turn your Belkin into a repeater. The standard Belkin firmware might permit this, but if it does not, go to DD-WRT.org and see if they have developed firmware for your model of the Belkin. I did this with my old Linksys and flashed new firmware, and it works just like you describe. Receives wireless from my Netgear router, and I run a cat5 from the Linksys to my wife's rig. Works like a champ.

If DD-WRT does not have firmware for your Belkin, try Tomato.

Yes I do; The Belkin number is F5D7230-4, VER A000 and the DSL gateway is Cisco DPC3825. The Belkin control page has an option to make it an access point; is that what I want? And if so how exactly do I configure it?

I looked further and discovered DD-WRT does not have a firmware flash for this model, nor does tomato. I'm limited to what my Belkin firmware will do. It has the option to make it an access point, but how do I configure it?
