Hi,

I've just completed my first build last night, booted it up this morning and I am not able to enter the BIOS.

When I hit the power button, the error LED on the motherboard reads "AE" which the manual defines as "Boot to Legacy OS". I have not yet been able to install an OS.

On screen, text reads: "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot drive"

I powered down, flipped the switch on the mobo to the backup BIOS, and booted up again. This time, the graphic interface flickered on twice, but ultimately left me with an "AE" error and "Reboot and select...." on screen.

Any idea what can be causing this? Thanks.

UPDATE:

I unplugged the machine and hit the CMOS reset button. I booted and a screen came up that said - "Bios has been reset - Please decide how to continue" and gave the options:

-Load optimized defaults then boot
-Load optimized defaults then reboot
-Enter bios

Searching around the forums many people suggested to reboot with optimized settings. I did so and now I'm back with an AE error and "Reboot and select..." on screen.

Hey sorry, I realize this is kind of a dumb question. I was able to enter the bios by resetting it and not optimizing anything from the menu. Just to be clear, when I click Boot and Optimize, it sets everything up automatically and then I can just boot to Windows from the disk?

First time doing this, and the information available on this particular point in the process is kind of murky.

Thanks for your answer.
