however my new one looks alot more like this one.

the xfx and the space between the fans has gone, and it says 7900 series on the side where it used to say 7950 but on the sticker on the card it says 7950

the box that it arrived in says 7950 but its different from the old one!

im really confused should i send it back or complain or is it the same in a differnt shape?

scan.co.uk, i rang and asked for the second time after they admitted it was dead, they said it should have been done ages ago as they had loads in stock... however he had no idea why it was never sorted? the new gpu i have is 800m however im not sure if my old one was that low it might have been 900m? or am i just being an ideot?

You just have a different version.
You might have had a overclocked card, XFX do make several versions of the '7950, I think my XFX 7950 is the same as the top card, and runs at 800/1250-stock frequencies for that chip.
It's easy to push that card to higher frequencies, just go to Catalyst Control Centre>Performance>Overdrive, then check the ''Enable Graphics Overdrive' box and you can use the sliders to set higher speeds, don't forget the check 'accept' box to apply the changes ;).
Mine will run happily at 1000/1450, but it does make the card a little noisy under sustained load.
