Here is the rig I am planning to build, is there any way to get it under 1K w/o changing the cpu and gpu? Also is this a good build any thoughts on it?

Your selected GPU and CPU eat up $600 of your budget. You want to fit peripherals, OS and other components into $400? It isn't going to happen.

You might want to get the low profile ram as that cooler is very big and my cover your ram slots. Only suggestions I have on lowering the cost is a cheaper case and go with the CM 212 evo cooler. This might save you about $60-$80 depending on the case. Since you have a monitor, keyboard, mouse and os listed, it will be hard to get it under $1000 unless you find some good deals or sales.

Thanks slomo I was wondering if I should get a cheap ssd by using the remaining 30 bucks to put my os on? Is that alright or should I get a better gpu?
