Hello, so i'm having a bit of trouble with my first build. The components I have are: Asrock z77 extreme4 motherboard, intel i5-3570k processor, ripjaw ddr3-1600 2048mb x2 ram, EVGA 1GB Geforce GTX 650 PCI express 3.0 GPU, and western digital SATA3 250gb Hard drive.

I followed a newegg video's instructions for putting it together. When I try and boot up, nothing happens on my monitor and the LCD on the MOBO says A2. I've read that it may be the SATA port my hard drive is plugged into, so I tried booting from every different SATA slot and nothing changes. I also tried taking the video card out, and plugging the VGA into the mobo - still nothing. A buddy told me (without being able to physically see my setup) that maybe my MOBO is bad.

Any suggestions out there for things to try? or steps to take before concluding that the parts are bad...

Thanks

P.S. does anyone know this MOBO has an on-board speaker? I see something that looks like its either a speaker or a heatsink

I've tested the monitor and cables on another comp, and they work. I also took a look at the link you gave me Thent and tried a few things they said such as clr cmos and disconnecting everything except for 8pin cpu power and 24 pin mobo power - still cant get into bios... still get A2 code...

I guess next thing ill try is taking the mobo back out of the case.... but i am hesitant because i dont wanna damage anything that i may be returning soon
