I'm looking to install all of my previous components from my dell inspiron 660s into a new case. I have bought a new power supply for the computer but it doesn't fit inside the slim case, so that leads me into a bigger case. What should I be looking for? What should I keep in mind, anything helps.

I'm quite new to all of this, How do I determine the size of the motherboard and gpu and compare it to others?

This is your motherboard

Looks like mini ATX of some kind. Form my experience all Inspiron motherboards are ATX compatible.

Little problem may arise - there is proprietary CPU cooler with shroud, cooler is OK, but the shroud? I don't know how it is connected.
With new case you definately can instal any video card, but look at motherboard - you have only 2 SATA ports, so no expansion unles you use PCI SATA card.
IF you will consider changing CPU cooler, check you motherboard on the other side, I think you have backplate where CPU cooler should screw in, socket size looks like Dell standard LGA775, judging by the distance between holes.
Also, you might get into some problem when connecting on/off switch, and more little annoying things like this.
So, my question to you - why you decided to upgrade power supply?
Simple task may cost you much.
