Odds are it's a Phenom II x4 965BE CPU, which is outdated, but that's a decent price for that system. Can you spend any more and build one yourself though? Also that won't max out most games at 45-60, probably more like 15-25 at 1080p in modern games. I'd request the full specs from him.

Pay a little extra for the headset and better keyboard/mouse, and you can have a brand new version. Also, that video card will not max out the latest games.

EDIT: I tried to put the same specs that he mentioned but most parts will be slightly different because these are all new parts. Most parts in the build are probably better than the ones he has depending on the computers age. They could also be worse if he got higher end parts. I just chose the cheapest mouse/keyboard just to have it in the build.

You also grabbed a laptop hdd.

For everything its not bad, but its not good either. As momo pointed out you could spend the same amount and have a new system instead of an older one. Only thing missing is the headset. Point him to this thread if he doesn't believe you, but $500 for a used system is "fairer".

So do you think I should buy that computer and maybe upgrade slowly or buy a new one??? I don't have too much to spend but I'd like a computer that can max out all games with at least 50 to 60 fps.. What's your advice on that? Thanks

Oh yes, my bad. I was choosing the cheapest decent items I could find to compare because who knows what quality items are in the used computer. In that mindset I forgot to look at details.

To my knowledge there is nothing preventing that drive from working in a desktop. Might need a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter plate but that's not expensive. Probably just easier though to just buy a 3.5" drive.

So do you think I should buy that computer

Not at $650. If you can buy a similar new system that hasn't been abused/OC'd and has a warranty for $627.30 his isn't worth $650. Again, I would consider buying it for ~$500. If he won't go for it, pass on it.
