Triple monitor gaming worth it?

So I'm preparing a new build and have a hydro copper titan on board, with a 3970x. I was considering to get three monitors, but I don't know if I can get 60 fps with one titan on three monitors. I could add a second titan, but i would preferably not want to add an extra $1200 if it's not needed. Is triple monitor gaming all that much better than single monitor gaming, or is the drop of performance not worth it? Thanks!

Didn't this very site just recently do an article on this topic?? Go read it and see.

What is "worth it" to some people is not to others, that's impossible to answer. Plus, you didn't even tell us what game you want 60 fps on. So, I will assume you mean solitare, so your answer is: Yes. You can get 60 fps with that Titan on three screens. Good luck.

You didn't need to be harsh on Him. Sure, depends on the game, but I assume that BF3, Crysis, no, it won't get 60Fps on 3 Screens. But Most of the other Games aren't as much demanding. But If you don't mind to get a second Titan, get it. as it can be very Future Proof.

You're a funny guy. Maybe consider doing a comedy rig. But if you were actually expecting someone to buy three monitors and not play games like crysis and battlefield you may be on the wrong forum. A link wouldn't have been bad either. People these days.

I have not used it for gaming. I have used it in software development, so I didn't really need high FPS in that setting. I have only gamed with 1 monitor. It was good enough for me, but I am not a hardcore gamer by any stretch of the imagination. You probably will find a few people out there who have 3 monitor setups and would never go back, but they are willing to drop that much money on it. Read the link below my first reply, I think that is the one which shows the multiple screen benchmarks for the Titan. Tom's put that article up not long ago, it was on the front page for a bit.

I have a triple monitor setup, though all are dissimilar (ones 1680x1050, while others are 1080p) so no Eyefinity for me :(.
However it is really useful for productivity purposes, you eventually just get so used to it, even going back to dual screens (which I am using right now) is a pain. Definite bonus if your doing something like Video Editing or do a lot of research.

As for gaming, A Titan will cover you for most games at high/ultra settings. Though more intensive games you will have to reduce settings.
