i had what i thought was a power supply problem on my asrock, i have speedfan installed on both my desktops, other desktop is msi pm8m v, just for reference, dont have two of the same board, had power supply die on it so bought a new one, then i was looking at speedfan on my asrock and noticed the 12 volt seemed to be low and started looking into in on the web and sure enuff my 12 volt was in the problematic range, running under 11.4 volts almost 11.4 but not quite and downloaded cpuid hardware monitor and showed it fluctuating as low 11.06 or something like that and 11.37 volts, so decided to get another power supply and put in in my msi board and take out that one i had just bought and was running just fine according to speedfan and put it in my asrock and all of a sudden im going from a consistent 12.1 to 12.16 volts on the pentium to 11.37 at idle on my sempron, and that aint the half of it, just as unusual my 5 volt rail is running at 5.48 which was running at about 4.96 on my pentium, dont know if it matters but the 3.3 volt is dead on at 3.3, a hair less than when it was in the pentium, is this a sign of a problem with the power supply???

dont know if my message went thru before but i believe your right about the power supply but there's still an issue sort of, put another power supply in an got the same result and just to confirm downloaded other monitoring software, everest and mbm5 and they both ended up with the same results as the motherboard, speedfan and cpuid hardware monitor...not sure its worth trying to figure out at this point as im getting ready to build an am3...though i would appreciate any further thoughts if u have any regarding this unusual situation with my asrock...thanks for the info so far

If you can manage to either hold off till you can afford an AM3+ system or can scrape up the cash now, the performance will be with the AM3+ systems Vs. the AM3 systems are higher depending on the CPU.

now i have said my opinion on you new option, as long as the system is running properly then there is no issues you need to be concerned of.

thanks i appreciate your help, but am concerned with the voltage running that low being a problem with the motherboard and dont want it to take out my brand new power supply, from what ive been reading around the net, this low of a voltage is a cause for concern, not questioning your skill or knowledge, but have hit up quite a few sites that say anything under 11.4 volts is an issue, seeing how its probably not the power supply as ive got these results from three different power supplies my guess is that its the darn board, which kinda sucks bcuz i swear this thing is a little bit faster than my pentium, built it less than a year ago and hate to see a perfectly good sempron go to waste but oh well thats just the way it is i guess...
