Hi Guys ;does anybody know what is going to replace the ,Atom processor within Ultrabooks ,like Acer revo.
What has Intel coming out , Or is Arm or Athlon ,even Apple got anything in the near future ? ?
Haswell I know is replacing Ivybridge ,Im looking for Power consumption mainly, in next generation and with Atom been around for so many years now ,cant find much on the net ,keep coming back to haswell ?

Atom is a line of processors, like i3 or FX. It's not an architecture.

You'll find there is a new version coming out soon though.

On the AMD side you can find chips like the E-series ones, or other embedded processors.

FYI: Anything with an Atom is not an Ultrabook. Ultrabook is an Intel marketing term that refers only to those computers with a Core i-series processor, and certain weight/thickness limits. You may be thinking of netbooks.

Thank you for all the help; So which is best for a Ultrabook-nettop ,It wouldnt necessarily need to be Atom ;An Arm or Amd offering would be welcome.I want to use Linux on it as Windows 8 sounds offal ;I have dabbed with a few flavors but its a pain with my large Tower case changing cables, is 1 reason ,I want small factor which i can easily lift ,I really like Netbooks if anyone, can suggest ,It would be greatly appreciated ?

ARM is out of the question for Windows unless you want to run Windows RT which is designed to run on ARM processors. Not sure if there is a Linux version which runs on ARM.

Netbooks is basically dying out. They peaked at 12 million units sold per quarter in 2009 down to 3 million in Q1 2013. I would actually consider a small laptop unless the size is too big. Such as the two Acer 11.6" laptops:

They've definitely being predicting the death of Netbooks, even almost form the start ;Dont really get the restricted tablet phone thing ,they'll probably be the future ,wwhich is greaat with me,but way to restrricting at the moment
Have been wating 5 years for somthing worthwhile in the Pc market ,wantes to through money at a UltraTop or Netbook ,as they wernt willing to take a risk ,have just held on ;personally think theyve lost money by not invetiing & delvoping the small Pc market
Dont doubt tablets will be the future ,but keyboards have lots to bring ,while they argue over differsnt patents in the courts
Thank you Jaguarkx
