Question on GPU Connector.

Hi Everyone,

I am building my first pc.I am going to use this GPU:Gainward Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 1GB GDDR5
It is written that the card needs One 6-pin PCI Express Supplementary Power Connector.I Don't know much about these things so tell me that will this Power Supply:Cooler Master Thunder 450W Watts PSU Work with my graphic card?

It has the needed connections, but I'd pick a better PSU if I were you. This one is a low end Cooler Master. Look for a 500W PSU from a good brand.

Your answer can be found at the Cooler Master homepage.

Under 'Specs', you'll see this: PCI-e 6+2 Pin x 1

This means that the PSU comes with one PCI-e power connector that can be used for both a 6-pin slot and an 8-pin slot.

just one more question,
my remaing rig is an i5 3470,a asus mobo with B75 chipset,4 gb ram,a optical drive,1 tb hitachi HDD,and a 18.5" 1366 X 768 monitor. Will my 450 watt psu be able to handle these components? Also,Will i be able to add a 64GB SSD later without upgrading my psu?

Even if you are on a low budget, don't go with a cheap PSU. A bad PSU can possibly take down your whole system. A good PSU doesn't have to be expensive.

PSU calculators are nice, but not entirely reliable.

For PSUs on that website, I'd recommend this one:

If the entire build gets too expensive, cut down on the cpu. An i5 3350p is almost as good as an i5 3470.

An SSD barely draws any power, so yes, you should be fine.

thanks,just a last question,the psu suggested by you is rs1500 more and i also heard that corsair does not make psu's themselves but sell under their name.So,any more cheaper suggestions??

On the flipkart site, check off price: 2-5000 Rs, and Power Output 500-750. The PSUs that show up from that search will work for you.

The power supply is by far the most important part of your build. People here take their builds very seriously, so when you ask your question on this site, you can be very sure that we will all say the same: do NOT buy a cheap PSU.

And many of us speak from (bad) experience when we say that. The money you save on a poor PSU can cost you dearly when you fry your motherboard. Trust me

It is just external power. I would recommend that you just get a better video card and psu to start. Believe me, it will help make your computer more enjoyable and last longer.

I meant that you asked what a 6 pin connector was. It provides extra power to the card that it cant take from the motherboard.
