can anyone help me? I purchased a brand new $1000 Toshiba laptop last year. Six months after I had it, it started slowing down and freezing and when I typed the keyboard would often not register a letter...even though I struck the key several times. It also would type a word leaving part of it out. I called Best Buy who gave me the royal run around for 6 months and threatened to charge me if they sent it off (this was still under warranty) and finally in exasperation I called Toshiba who sent me a box and I shipped it back...this agreement was made the day before the warranty expired...they did not actually receive it until a couple of weeks later. The laptop came back and appeared to work find, no overheating, much faster (it had been freezing) but still a bit of a problem with the keyboard. I let that go and then when I had homework assignments to do that I did not do on the lab there...it would not work. It would not read my flash drive. Since the assignment was due, my son brought me his laptop and took mine home. He says we needed to reenter all my programs and uninstall some of the stuff that Toshiba put in when they replaced the motherboard. We tried it again and it would not let me use any of the USB ports (no problem with them when I sent it in) and it will not read the memory card...no problem when I sent it in...and it is just acting erratic. The only improvement appears to be quicker internet access but now they are saying they will not replace the computer...which I think they should....their repairs created new problems...and on top of that I bought this computer for school and it has been useless to me...either not working or not in my possession. I will never buy another product from Best Buy as long as I live. They have no truth in their advertising....telling you one thing and leaving out things....like yes there is a full warranty but only if you take out their warranty...and they are incompetent. They kept telling me my laptop was fine even though Toshiba sent report that fans were operating at 90% and it was still overheating. Best Buy told me my fan was dirty.....sorry...some dirt....maybe but not enough to create a problem like that. The man actually argued with me in a patronizing manner...and then told me (as a sort of threat when I insisted they do something) that if he sent it off...they would charge me because there was nothing wrong with it....then I find out that they do not send it to Toshiba but to one of their Geek programs in Louisville. Can anyone help?????

Best buy doesn't hire technicians, they hire sales people.

The problems your having could be caused a myriad of issues. What your describing sounds like a hardware issue that can only be solved by replacing the MotherBoard (again). Toshiba, more than likely, replaced the MoBo with a repaired one that developed these other issues. Ask friends for a local computer repair shop that can quote you a price to fix.

Provide us with the full model number (L775d-SXXX, 455-SXXXX, etc..), and we may be able to help you find a solution.
