I recently got a computer with XP installed on it and need it connected to my router, but whenever the WiFi adapter is installed it tries to restart, comes up with the loading screen and then comes up with a blue error screen. What can I do? I don't know a lot about this, so any links would be appreciated!

THe OS would need to be XP SP2 or SP3 to enable USB 2.0 for the wifi adapter to work unless the adapter is compatible with usb 1.1 revision.

The use of the usb port would require some sort of power requirement, about 5v 500 ma so if your PSU is already running at peak power limit that little bit extra would kick it over the top causing the PSU to shut off.

Don't have the wifi adapter connected prior to boot up, only after you have reached desktop. It will only work if you have a usb 2.0 port available and assuming that your service pack is 2 or 3.
