Haswell worth the wait?

Been stalking pc sites lately and noticed the upcoming release of the new Haswell CPUs. Problem is im planning to build a new rig in a week or so and im now torn between waiting a few more weeks for the Haswell to come out or stick with the 3570k. Ive read that Intel focused on reducing the power consumption and improving the integrated graphics, which kinda pushes me towards getting the 3570k and just game my ass off since im getting the rig to celebrate finishing my finals. Im planning to get a 7970 and a Z77 mobo with custom cooling and overclock the crap outta that thing.

Any suggestions for an impatient guy like me?

ve read that Intel focused on reducing the power consumption and improving the integrated graphics,

According to the newest rumors/leaks, wrong. They've improved the IGP so much the TDP ratings are going up. IPC isn't supposed to be much better then IB either. If you need a new rig, buy one now. I just upgraded off my i5 750 to a new Z77/3570k. So far so good.

I would say wait for haswell mainly because of the new LGA 1150 socket for futureproofing and is supposed to have better overclocking potential and also new motherboard chipsets. :D
Anyway, expect a 5-10% performance increase over Ivy
Bridge, and on top of that it should be able to overclock a bit better.
It's main focus is not desktop but the mobile
space. It'll have better integrated graphics which according to some new leaks increase the performance so much that the TDP has gone up. It should also supports the avx2 instruction set which should give up to 100% performance increase when that's used properly
(doubt the RL world diffrence will be as big).
Coolers and such should fit.
Remember, almost all of these are rumours except new socket, new mb chipsets and better igp's.

Is any of these info official? Like approved by Intel in some way, such as a press conference or something like that. Id be really disappointed if the real thing comes out and it only benefits slightly more than IB CPUs.

I was in a similar situation when Ivy Bridge was 'coming soon'. By the time the real reviews came in, I was disappointed with the performance gain (in the case of Sandy vs. Ivy, mostly in terms of heat dissipation when overclocked) over the previous generation, but had already waited long enough to feel 'committed' to buying the new chip.

I'm satisfied with my purchase, although I certainly don't feel like I 'won' by waiting. For my purposes, the equivalent Sandy chip I was considering at the time before Ivy release would be doing its job just as well today.

With PC parts, having the newest and greatest is always fun, but short-lived, and the performance difference between generations has become quite linear, especially when price is considered. So, in my experience and opinion, buying a part, fresh off release, doesn't benefit you all that much.

No, none of this is official yet. Last I heard the avg increase in IPC is more like 7-10%. Much like IB was over SB. Toms just had an article about how the new TDP is suppose to be 84W instead of the old 77W for IB. Supposedly this is because of the bigger IGP. But again, nothing official.

Considering the slowing pace of CPUs and the inflated prices of new stuff, I wouldn't bother waiting. Buy now, be happy now. I don't think HW is even coming out until Q1 2014. Last rumor I heard anyways... (I heard another that said Q3 2013 which makes more sense. Holidays and all.)
