Just built a system for a friend from new parts bought at our local Micro Center. For the first boot-up and BIOS updates / OS installation I had all drives connected to power but only the SSD connected to mobo. System starts, fans spin up, case LEDs come on, but nothing on the monitor and no beeping. After about 30 seconds it shuts down, waits about 5-10 seconds and then repeats the process until I shut it off manually. Tried going down to 1 stick of RAM, verified proper placement of RAM modules, reseated the CPU a couple times, and started with mobo on cardboard surface to verify no shorts. Listed components below, would greatly appreciate any assistance.

MSI Z77A-G41 mobo
Intel 3570K with box cooler (not gonna be OC'ing)
2x8GB DDR3-1600 Crucial Ballistix Sport
Samsung 840 Series 120GB SSD
Sapphire Radeon HD 6570 1GB (tried with and without this plugged in)
Corsair Obsidian 200D case
Corsair CX500 PSU

Well, looks like it was the motherboard. Saw a PC Magazine article about troubleshooting home-built PC's that listed our exact problem and said it's a motherboard issue. Swapped out the motherboard today at Micro Center and system is running fine now...annoying, but at least it was easy to return...
