Hey everyone, I am building my pc and I would like to know how SLI excactly works. For example, I have an MSI GTX n660 TF lll 2ddr5 and was planning on buying either the asrock pro 3 z77 or the MB MSI Z77A-G41. Now my question is how sli would work with these motherboards, because they only have one PCI 3.0 port.

as long as they have atleast 2 PCIe X16 slot regardless of the version you are good to go.although PCIe 2 might bottleneck them but i dont know if its actually true.now for the mobo, Id recommend Asrock as they both have almost same specs but i find the ASrock more appealing.

EDIT:they don't support SLI only 4 way crossfireX o_O.you can use Asrock Extreme 3 Z77 but its 20$ pricier but supports 4 way SLI and has 2 PCIe 3.0 X16 connectors.

What about Extreme4? I just had to go switch out my z77 pro 3 for a z77 extreme 4 so I could run an sli with the same card. And the extreme 4 is perfect. Not to mention the board looks nice and has some cool features for its' price.
