I have a HP m6-1002tx laptop, it came with Windows7 & during the upgrade offer i purchased windows 8 pro at discounted price. But when i made a bootable usb and tried to install it, it gave me error that my harddisk needs to GPT. After lots of searching i came to know a simple method using command prompt and diskpart command, so i booted from that usb and opened command prompt and tried it many times, but it didn't work. Then i was desperate for some work, so installed a pirated version of windows 8 (sorry! was too desperate). But surprisingly, it didnot ask for a gpt! my bios but it is uefi enabled. Now i have some free time and wish to install my paid version of w8 pro, since i'm again going to face same problem, what should i do?

I have an external usb hard disk, can i install win7 or 8 on it and boot using the usb hdd and then try converting my inbuilt hdd using disk management utility?

Also i would like to install linux on another partition, will it have any problem with gpt?

Sorry for the long post. :)

Solution
Good. Choose 'Drive Options (Advanced)'. Select each Partition in turn and Delete them. When all you have left is 'Unallocated Space', continue with your Installation, Windows will do the rest...
Most Linux installs will run on a GPT disk. In Setup (BIOS) you should have EFI enabled to use a GPT disk. How far do you get when you try to install Win 8 using your USB drive? Do you reach the 'Where do you want to Install Windows' Screen?

Simple as that? gonna do it tonight, but are you sure it will convert my mbr hdd to gpt?

Not entirely sure, but does it matter as long as Windows installs? The assumption is that if you install from a UEFI it will automatically select GPT. Doubt you'll see much difference either way, unless you use very large drives and you want large partitions plus more of them...
