I'm thinking of going with 1200 Watts, because latter ill be installing 11 more HDD's and A cd drive. Is it overkill?

Yes, that is overkill. The previous recommendation is more than enough.

ya we use Dell servers and they have duel 6 core xeons can handle 20 sas drives 800watt redundant power supplies in there so i am guessing you will never max out 800. 1200 would be a waste of money. Servers sit at 20% usage max most of the time unless using virtualization.
