Hi I am a computer technician and I have a situation with one of my customer lcd monitor and maybe the computer.

Monitor model: Samsung b2030

Before there was many problem with the os so I wanted to reinstall Windows xp on his computer. After loading the windows xp cd file at the beginning, instead of showing the menu for installing the os, the display come black and a little square moving around showing "the screen resolution is not set to Optimum 1680 x 1050 @60Hz" Im not exactly sure what was the message again. Than I tried to play around with the menu and I used the Reset option (Use this function to restore the visual quality and color settings to the factory defaults) and I put the Auto Source option from "Auto" to "Manual"(Users have to manually select an input signal). Now im not sure if it was right after I changed that or a bit latter, but at a certain point, the screen received power but does not display anything at all. Even the menu was impossible to access. I tried troubleshooting by testing the monitor on 2 desktop computer + 1laptop (that I know work perfectly with vga) and I tried a different vga cable but no positive result. This was yesterday. Now, my customer just call me and told me he bring his monitor to the shop where he bought it and it was working normaly.

I dont know if he should call Samsung to ask for a replacement (its still under warranty), get a new monitor for him in the meantime that he receive the new one, or can I fix this problem in a way or another?

Extra information
-His new computer have a foxconn d270s microITX motherboard with integrated cpu. (No added graphic card on it)
-The second computer I tryed the screen was his old computer which had a 10years+ graphic card with vga port.
-The third computer is my laptop - Toshiba

+Even though the screen was working fine before, I still received sometime that message "the screen resolution is not set to Optimum 1680 x 1050 @60Hz" at different moment for example instead of showing the "press any key to boot from a cd" message at booting. So its definitely very annoying since I have to guess whats going on behind that display message.

Guys if you know anything.. Would be very appreciated!

If you have a blank screen most likely you have went past the native resolution. I would also check the motherboard battery as it seems like it is not keeping setting. P.s you are not a very good technician . Joke!!! good luck!!!
