Me and my friend are booting up windows xp from an external optical drive. Everytime that windows finishes and gets to "booting up windows" I get an error code: 0x0000007e. I tried to do my research and saw that devices such as USB could cause it so would I need an internal optical drive?

CouLd be windows installing old USB driver. Can try using hirem boot cd it has mini xp boot in it. Or try and make USB bootable xp install disk.
