Hi all!

I started building a new budget system for cgi and light gaming.

Been having a few issues since its my first homebuild.

my components are:

amd fx-6200
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
patriot viper 8GB 1600MHz ddr3
artic 750w psu
gigabyte GTX 480 SOC
seagate 320gb 7200rpm
windows 7 ultimate 64bit

I installed windows before I got the GPU and everything was working fine.

Installed the GPU and tried to install the driver from gigabyte's website, this didn't work and had the yellow symbol in device manager.

A few more tries and still nothing but I also have lines on the boot screen and random BSOD.

Try booting again and it freezes before windows can load.
Replace the GPU with ATI 5830 and it still freezes in the same place.
Try with just onboard graphics and still freezes.

I then put the GPU in a friend's computer but it just won't install the driver!

Can anyone please shed some light on this problem?

Yeah thanks for the tip.
The only reason I didn't was because the gigabyte 480 SOC is so far away from the stock 480 that it might aswell be a different card.

Right I installed a new hard drive, installed windows, installed the gigabyte drivers and now it freezes when the windows 7 logo shows up or BSODs.

I tried booting into safe mode and it always hangs at CLASSPNP.SYS.

So the drivers for the gpu might be the solution to that problem but I can't test because my system won't boot.

Any ideas?

Another update:

I managed to get it to boot and installed the most recent graphics driver.

the colours are all messed up and it looks mental.

Doesn't look like this problem is solved just yet :/
