I have got a new DVI to HDMI cable and there is no sound, I am aware that DVI does not support audio, but I have an audio Jack in the PC/DVI slot in the back of my monitor/TV and going from that to the audio Jack in my computor, this worked fine before I got this cable and I had a standard VGA cable in my computor, why won't it work now?

More about : dvi hdmi sound

You probably have to switch the audio input on the monitor back to the analog input. With a hdmi cable plugged in, it expects the sound from this input.

I assume it is your monitor speakers & not standalone (separate). Check the audio source setting on the monitor it is looking (for sound) from the HDMI cable for it when it is plugged in.

He is talking DVI not HDMI - 2 completely different inputs to the TV/Monitor.
PC audio input plays only when in RGB/PC mode only. (works that way on my LCD monitor anyways)
Audio into (TV/Monitor) should have seperate setting each mode used.
HDMI input uses HDMI sound settings - VGA./DVI/RGB(not RCA) input uses PC sound input settings only.
Put TV/Monitor in desired mode then go to setting for that mode.
Test sound output from computer while in that mode.
