Well if he is living in India, I'm sure hes using Indian Rupees. 40,000 to 50,000 means around $750 to $950.
I'd suggest a Lenovo Y400, Y500, or Y580. Really it depends on how much it is on India, as prices aren't the same every where.
You could try Reliance Digital, but I'm not sure if they offer the best prices.
I found a laptop just barely over 50,000 rupees (+430 rupees) http://configure.ap.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=v...
It can play most games on low-medium settings, for example bf3. It can play Call of Duty MW3 on high settings with 40 FPS.
I really can't find anything else in that area that can be considered a gaming laptop. Try to find laptops with a discrete graphics chip, for example GT 650m or 7730M. These will help you with gaming.
You could also try the India version of popular manufacturer's websites. Go to HP, ASUS, Lenovo, Acer, etc.
