Graphics card wont work on HP pavilion

How do i turn the on board video off on a HP pavilion desktop...I am trying to install my Nvidia 430 card and it wont allow me, the screen just does not light up, but the fans are moving on the graphics card. is there anyway to totally disable the motherboard graphics ?

You should be able to change this in the BIOS. F10 shoudl get you in.

Not exact on the name for the option, but should give an option for Primary Display device. You should be able to change it to Discreet GPU. This will disable the onboard graphics.
