Hello, I am new at this, just built my first computer earlier this week. But I am looking at my TMPIN1 temperature and it is currently at 74 degrees C. With a min of 73 and a max of 74. Is that a safe number. Some additional info, I have been running Prime 95 for about 12 hours now testing my CPU's OC. Would appreciate any info on if that is a safe temp or not. Thank you!

It cooled back down after I stopped Prime95, but every other temperature was anywhere from 28-32 C. Which was the main reason I worried that the TMPIN1 was so much higher than the others

1) What were the other temperatures?

2) Different measuring tools can give drastically different results - try a couple more and tell me what they say.

3) The reason I'm asking for your specs is because if your computer is anywhere near modern, the northbridge is actually on your CPU, which is why it would be hot.

1. TZ00: 28
TX01: 30
TMPIN0:48
TMPIN1:35
TMPIN2:29
Those are all the current temps. Prime95 is not running

2.I tried a couple others. All the same.

3. Every thing is very up to date. I have an Intel i7 3770k and an MSI Z77A-G41 motherboard.

I just assembled an i5-3470k in an MSI Z77 G41 also, and my TMPIN1 skyrocketed, while running Prime95. It went up to 128c, while TZ00 was at 28c TZ01 30c TMPIN 30c, cores maxed at 53c.

I'm guessing this a very motherboard/MSI specific bug?

Please start your own thread for this, but I'm guessing it's a broken sensor, since the computer kept functioning, which it wouldn't do if it were actually getting that hot.
