Hello, I was wondering how to add a HDD to another system so that I have 2. My dad obtained a HDD and he already has one in his system. But he wants to add this to get more storage space. Do I need to setup raid? By the way he has a prebuilt HP computer.

You're planning to check that the second HDD is showing properly in BIOS Setup. Good. Assuming it does, then you probably will need to do another step to get it working.

ALL new HDD's need to be INITIALIZED before your system can use them, so if this is a new one that has nothing on it, that it VERY likely what is needed, For guidance, see WyomingKnott's Sticky post here:

Pay special attention to his Step 5.

Check how much space is available in your case.
Find out what type of cable system is used to connect drives to the motherboard.
Now that you have your new drive, you are ready to install it.
Set the jumpers (if it is an IDE drive).

Sorry, I should add this:

It's a WD Black (even I was surprised), SATA either II or III for sure. His computer uses SATA and there are a couple headers still left. I already plugged it in and booted it up but it didn't work. I didn't think it would either. I think I have to do something with the BIOS or raid. Can anyone assist?
