Hi, Im planning to buy a refurbished workstation for dell. My major needs are rendering in 3ds max and smooth playback during animation, so I guess I'll need lots of proccessor speed.
For a budjet of about $3000 I saw a Dell precision T7600 with this spec.-

Processor: Intel Xeon Eight Core E5-2665 (2.4GHz, 20M, 8 GT/s,Turbo+)

64 GB DDR3 RDIMM 1600, ECC,8x8GB

1 GB NVIDIA Quadro 2000,Dual Monitor,2DP and 1DVI.

So, I want to know if I can buy and add an extra E5-2665 proccessor add to it to give me 2x speed?
I also will like to know If it is worth it to buy a refurbished workstation.

Thanks

if it's purely for 3ds max i'd consider beefing up on gpu's instead of cpu's - 3ds max is cuda capable, meaning you can use 1 or more powerful nvidia gpu's as highly parallel processors to crunch the workload much faster than a cpu-bound workload.

Thanks Jpoos, I have considered GPU, but I dont know if I can get much from a single Quadro 5000 compared to Dual Xeon CPU. i also have been reading peoples different opinion about the Quadros both positive and negative.
