New Build, Stuck at Lower Resolution

Hi,
I just put together my new build the other day, and all was working well, including my resolution. However, after installing AMD's latest drivers, (I have a Gigabyte 7970 GHz Edition), my resolution is capped at 1776 by 1000. However, when booting up, the resolution appears to be fine. Note that I have only installed the drivers that came with my GPU.

So which drivers are you running? Your post is a little confusing - you installed the latest drivers, but you only installed the drivers that came with the GPU.

Regardless, did you completely remove the amd drivers (original install) before installing other drivers?

I would suggest removing all amd drivers at this point, running driver sweeper (here) and then doing complete install of drivers and ccc.

Here we: I uninstalled the drivers and res is back to normal. As for saying the latest drivers, I had CCC run a check for drivers and it said no new ones have been found. I did some farther research into AMD drivers and I'm currently downloading the newest version of CCC. Does CCC contain the drivers?

I downloaded the latest CCC and the drivers and now the resolution is back to normal. One last question: I have a 120hz monitor, but it's only displaying at 60hz. How do I get it to display 120hz? (I'm using a HDMI cable). Thanks!

Yes, drivers are contained in the ccc package.

HDMI does not have enough bandwidth for 120hz. Use DVI-D.

I found my problem. My GPU has a dvi-i while my monitor has a dvi-d. If i get a cable that connects to both of them, will my monitor work at 120hz?

The DVI-D dual link will provide 120hz. The DVI-I carries both analog and digital signals while the -D carries digital only. The Benq is expecting a digital signal and the dual link will provide that signal.

I have a DVI-D cable. It doesn't transfer any signal, but it's probably on the GPU's end, considering the problems I'm having here. But, if my GPU was functioning properly, I could plug my DVI-D cable into my GPU's DVI-I port?

Yep - the dvi-d will plug right in to the dvi-i port.

Regarding your other issue, do you have the PCIe connector (8 pin or 6+2) connected?
Have you tried re-seating your card?

I have both a 6+2 and 6 pin connector in the card. I will try reseating the card though. However, when I plug the DVI-D into the the GPU's DVI-I and the monitor's DVI-D, the monitor tells me that there's "No Signal".

The HDMI works through the GPU, so yes it works. The mobo is Asrock Z77 Extreme 4, and the CPU is i5 3750k.

Make sure vsync is turned off in ccc and that your desktop refresh rate is set to 120hz.

If it is working on hdmi it should be working on dvi. That's why I suggested turning off vsync (60hz on hdmi) and making sure your desktop resolution is set for 120hz (dvi).
