First what happens if you un-install the game, then run CCcleaner.
If that does not work, then try repair using a Earlier restore point.
My guess is a driver issue vs the the game.
2nd possibility is the install changed something where you may possibly be overheating the GPU/CPU.
Might try running Furmark in a window while monitoting your CPU/GPU test.
NOTE: this stress GPU more than a game so MONITOR your GPU temps closely - only need to run for say 1 ->5 Min to get an Idea of what your GPU/CPU temps are doing.

Always Help if you list the Laptop brand/model and if it has a dedicated GPU or if it is using a internal GPU (ie for My Samsung RF711 it has a dGPU 540M and a iGPU of HD3000)
