is there any other way of making the bios reset besides battery and pins? like removing the battery putting the jumper on reset and unplugging everything and letting it sit there till there is absolutely no more power? i assume if you do not let the board get any power and any backup was to run out, would the board reset to factor settings?

By "resetting" it do you mean putting it back to the factory state? If yes, just go into the BIOS itself and somewhere in there you should have a sub-menu where you can select "Reset To Default Settings" or something like that.

I'm not sure I follow your question. The battery is the backup. When you move the jumper all you're doing is shorting the caps so it drains faster. You just said you know how to do it... Then simply repeated it phrased differently a couple times....

why are you trying to wipe it anyway? If you're trying to get around a password obviously that's not gonna work

It depends on the board. Some boards you have to use the jumper and press the power button after moving the jumper, then move it back to power the machine on. Some boards have a button to reset bios defaults. Removing the cmos battery will reset settings(depends on the board) but usually doesn't clear the nvram(loosing power doe not affect setting stored in non-volition ram). The only other way is using the reset option in the bios.

sorry guys i tend to type exactly what im thinking and what i want to say sometimes making no sense or repeating my self. anyways, im having some trouble with my board when i was undervolting my cpu and now i cant get to the bios to undo what i did because the jumper/battery method wont reset anything. while i was going to order a new board i got the idea of completely draining the board of all power and maybe doing that will bring the board back to factory settings. but i dont know if this is even possible to do. and how long would you guys guess it would take to drain any backup power on the board till it loses any saved info. the board is a biostar ta880gu3+
