Hi!
Okay, so my question is how hot my cpu should be when playing games? I got a lag problem which most likely is caused by my cpu, and i wonder if it is overheating, and that causes the lag, but i don,t realy know how hot it should be. When doing nothing it runs at 15-17 degrees, but when playing games it lays at about 43. At worst it's at 50 degrees. Is this too hot? Is there anything wrong with my cpu? Should i change it? I recently builded the pc my self, so it should be in good shape, and no damages. Please help!

Well i just use the stock fan who comes with:D So, it's obvius that it's not overheating then? Can you think of anything else who could be causing the lag? It's like when i play a bit old games like FalloutNV i get massive lag, but in BF3 i run it much smoother. Bioshock infinite is a bit laggy on high graphics, but pretty smooth on medium settings. My specs are:
Gigabyte 970A-UD3 mobo
Asus hd 7850 gpu
AMD fx 4100 cpu
4gb corsair ddr3 ram
1tb seagate hdd
Corsair GS600 psu

Have you checked memory utilization? Are you running a 64 bit OS? Do you know what the frame rate is when it lags? How busy is the CPU? Does overclocking minimize the issue?

The stock cooler can keep the temperature of an idle CPU only a few degrees above ambient temperature. In order to keep it at 15°C the room temperature has to be less than 10°C. Either the room is very cold or the reported idle temperature is incorrect (not an issue as you're only concerned by maximum temperature when the CPU is very busy).

I have tested my memory with memtest, yes, and there were no errors. I am running a 64bit OS. The framerate when playing bioshock infinite is about 40fps. The odd thing is that the fps in Fallout NV lays at 15-30. I have tried overclocking it, but it does no good im affraid. When playing Fallout NV, the cpu runs at worst at 80%, but it goes up and down all the time. In Bioshock infinite it's almost the same except it doesn't drop that often.

I'll open a new thread then:). So just to make it clear, you don't think my problem is cpu related at all?

I'm not 100% sure because I can't rely on the temperatures that you reported. It's impossible to cool a CPU to 10°C unless the room is close to freezing point. That being said, is your high temperature really 50°C or closer to 70°C? Did you verify that the CPU doesn't throttle when running Prime95 torture test?

I used core temp to benchmark my cpu, and as far as I could see, the high temparature was about 50 degrees. Is this a good one to use, or should I use a different program? Anything you wanna recomend? I ran prime95, and there were no errors.

I'll open up a new thread then, to see if maybe it's my graphics card, that causes the lag. Thanks for all replies!:D
