Hello,

I have a alienware m17x with windows 7 64 bit. Never had any computer problems use it mostly for games, photoshop, internet whatever. But earlier today it just randomly shut down. Not like it was restarting from an update or anything just in the middle of watching a video in full screen the screen went black and it was at the boot screen next.

Windows would not start after that, it would go to the windows loading screen and then just reboot again and then it would say windows failed to start. After awhile i got it to start but about 10 seconds after logging in it "restarted" once again. Also at this point the mouse control from the touchpad was a little funky to say the least, it worked but not very smoothly/well but plug in mouse was fine.

Next time I booted it the resolution was extremely small and when i logged in it started installing the drivers for something graphics related and then finished and asked me to restart and i did and the resolution was back to normal. I did a system restore to a few days ago and after it restarted normally the mousepad was still a little funky then after about 10 seconds stopped working completely. Since then (a few hours) it has yet to randomly "restart" but the mousepad is still not functional. Some programs also seem to be running a little slower. I have looked in the device manager and it says the drivers are up to date for the touchpad I asked on the dell forums and they told me to update the drivers (even though i said i did) so i figure i will try elsewhere. Any idea what the hell happened?
