Just put my new build together and have it up and running. The only problem that I keep having is that my PC restarts when I try to play games. Just checked and when the CPU temp hit 43*C it restarted. I haven't tried reseating the heatsink yet.

Here is my build:

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 XT 2GB Video Card
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 750W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply

Also, unable to enter BIOs...just another issue...yay

43 C is not that hot at all, especially if you're gaming. I doubt the issue has anything to do with you CPU.

In my experience when people have blue screens or reboots when trying to play games the issue is often related to their power supply. But yours seems good.

Did you remember to plug in the 8 pin on the mobo as well as the 24 pin?

Hi

What is reporting Temperature of CPU ?
You said you could not get into BIOS so it is not the PC Health section of BIOS

Is it temperature measurement software on motherboard driver CD ?

Is PCI-E 12V power to graphics card connected correctly (two 6 pin connectors)
This requires two connectors from two separate power cables
your PSU seems to support 4x 6/8 pin pci-e connectors so should be OK

Have you tried re setting cmos to get back to default settings ?

Hi Mike, it is temperature measurment software from my mobo driver. I do have 2 6 pin power connecters connected to my gpu. I also tried resetting cmos via the jumper and by taking the battery out but all that is different is my date is now wrong.

This sounds like inaccurate temp reporting from the Core Temp Sensor in the motherboard. These sensors have been off to varying degrees it seems lately. If your PSU is delivering the advertised voltage without issue, I would bet you need more aggressive cooling. Your temp sensor on your motherboard is likely off about 10-15C. Mine oddly reads well off until it hits north of 35C and then seems to read accurately...I have been unable, as of yet, to figure out the discrepency at lower temps. For example, at idle, it will read 2C-5C even though the room is 70F (~18C)...then under load, it reads correctly north of ~35C. My cooling system is a 212 EVO, so I know it cannot be cooler than room temps at idle.

My idle is 30C and it restarts at 43C. Even if its 15C off that would mean i'm idling at 45 and when it shuts down it would be around 65C, thats still not hot enough to cause it to shut down is it? My cooling system is a 212 plus.

At 60C the FX series has a built in shutdown.

If your cooling fan is a 212 EVO, I would recommend checking your thermal paste and making sure it is applied correctly. I prefer the "dot" method personally...but others have different methods.
