changing 7970 bios

+1 to this. It is HIGHLY recommended to only install a bios that is provided to you by the manufacturer of the card you own. I have a buddy that bricked his powercolor HD6950 tring to flash it with a 6970's bios. There were reports of it working so he tried it, and the end result was bricking a $300 video card...
I actually did it before I read your comments and it seemed to work fine but it didn't fix my problems so I just put the old bios back. I used this tutorial http://www.overclock.net/t/1353325/tutorial-atiwinflash-how-to-flash-the-bios-of-your-ati-cards
