I have a xeon E3-1245v2 build (2.3ghz underclock) and it is ivy bridge, thus it have lousy thermal paste in it.
I have a tube of artic silver 5,and i am going to get the gammaxx for this cpu. This have a packet of thermal paste provided.
My question is,should i use the packet or the tube?i understand the tim beneath the ihs is bad,and does that mean by using artic silver 5,i have wasted it as the tim "bottlenecked" the cooling? So should i use the as5 or the packet one?should i save the as5 for the future?

Use the Arctic Silver 5. It's reliable and is only bested by Noctua nt-h1.

Not to say the thermal paste that comes with the Gammaxx 400 is bad. however often the quality of the thermal paste that comes with the coolers aren't the best. It might dry out or be bad at leading the heat away onto the cooler.
