I just got a windows xp pc from my friend that he was about to through away. I want to turn the pc into a sort of media hub where I can store my movies, music, tv shows, etc. However, my office is on the second floor and my router is on the first so I use a wifi card to get internet access up there. I remember reading somewhere that you could share internet access between tho computers using a standard internet cable. Is it possible for me to some how make it so that the windows xp pc also gets internet from the same wifi card on my gaming rig? If so, how would it be done?

Yes; virtual WLAN is possible. You need to first make sure both computers are in the same workgroup and both are using the networking option Ad hoc. Give your gaming rig a static IP address. Then on your other computer, you would want to connect to WLAN using the static IP address of your gaming rig as your default gateway.
