So I'm looking to purchase a 120+ hz monitor for gaming to fully take advantage of my 7970's power and I've narrowed it down to these two monitors.

ASUS VG248QE Black 24" 144Hz 1ms (GTG) - $269 (normally $309)

BenQ XL2420T Black-Red 24" 5ms (2ms GTG) - $389 (normally $469)

What are the pros/cons and which one is the better buy?

Thanks!

PS: I would love to go with the cheaper ASUS monitor, but if there is some significant defect/something that makes the BenQ worth the extra $120 I would consider it.

Ok, I was wondering if 3D had something to do with it. Thank you!

cooky, that's not at all true.

1) The BenQ XL2420XT is the model that has a built in emitter - the plain T model doesn't.

2) The BenQ XL2420T is just about the best 120Hz monitor built - it has the best color I've ever seen from a TN panel, has very useful features, and is built like a tank. It's pretty much the best competetive gaming monitor period, aside from a few $600+ korean imports / iiyamas.

Does the extra features/quality justify all of the extra money or would I be better off with the ASUS and spending my money elsewhere?

I would highly recommend the BenQ. A monitor is something that you're going to have a long time; it lasts at least as long as a power supply and case will, so you want to buy something that's good quality and built well. On top of that, the BenQ is arguably the best you can get for less than $600.

That being said, you'd probably be happy with the Asus monitor as well; I just would prefer the BenQ.

Thank you! I'm not sure that the BenQ is in my budget right now but if I find it cheaper somewhere else, or if it goes on sale more, I'll try to pick one up. If not, I'm sure the ASUS will be fine.

Thanks again!

My mistake then. Damn Benq and their X's and T's.
