Hello, I just tried doing an external build with the CPU, RAM, Video Card, and PSU and it gave me 5 Beeps with no picture on my monitor. I have my monitor connected with a blue VGA cable to my motherboard because the monitor doesn't have a HDMI slot. So, I figured I would try connecting my video card to my TV instead via HDMI and this time it gave me the same 5 Beeps BUT my BIOS screen came up. I seen that that my CPU and RAM were all listed on it.

After that I tried connecting my motherboard to my monitor the same way I had it the first time (with VGA cable) but now I get no beeps at all and still a black screen.

Might be worth noting that when I power on, my video card fan spins for a second then stops, then starts up again. My CPU and PSU fans both work fine. I looked up the 5 beep code and that means process failure but why would my CPU be listed on my BIOS and the fan be working if it failed? Why would my external build boot up on my TV but not my computer Monitor?

I would appreciate any help I can get because I really hope I didn't just spend all this money for nothing :(

Johnny make sure you plugged in the 4 or 8 pin pci power plug that near the CPU or on the edge of your mb. With just onboard video go into the bios look at the bios file name.write it down then go to the mb vendor web page and download the newest mb bios file. Copy the rom or cap file to a USB stick and use the bios update tools inside the bios.

I have the 8 pin for cpu , 24 pin for motherboard, and both my 6 pins for my video card plugged in correctly. The only way I can see BIOS is if I have my external build plugged in to my TV with an HDMI cable because nothing shows up on my computer monitor for some reason.. i can't look around or anything because I only have my bare minumum parts right now, everything else is coming in tommorow, is it actually a processor failure though or am I just getting 5 beep codes because my BIOS isn't updated?

Try taking out one dimm and if your mb has post it led what are they stopping at?? Some mb if the heat sink down to tight or the mb being flexed or shorted it can do strange things. If your mb one of the asus ones with the USB flash back port download the newest bios file and use the USB flash back port.

No LED's on this one, it's a AsRock z75 pro 3. I took out one dimm and it re booted and heard 5 beeps once again, still no BIOS on my display just a black screen. I followed the Newegg build a pc tutorial and I thought I had everything right so maybe there's a problem with the CPU or Video Card. I reset my CMOS, checked to see if any pins were bent on my cpu, tried a different monitor, took out my video card, and still no progress. I also accidentally snapped of the PCI express 3.0 plastic release for the Video Card by accident when i was taking out my video card so maybe I just screwed something up even more.

Check The pci video slot for bent pins..with a flashlight see if the connected been cracked. If your mb has two video card slots key using the other one.
Also look to see if there anything shorting the mb. Some mb heat sinks need a foam pad or they short out the bottom of the CPU.

I'd just like to say thank you for taking the time to try fix this with me, i'm not sure what could possibly be wrong and I honestly should have thought of this before I spent $1200, I feel pretty stupid haha.

I tried a different VGA cable when I tried a different monitor still no luck. Why when the first time I hooked my breadboarded build up via HDMI to my TV it was able to go into BIOS, but no luck when connected to my monitor? It doesn't make any sense to me, shouldn't that mean my PSU had adequate power and that everything should work?
