Would you buy a used xbox 360?

Only if it hadn't been banned from Live. If I remember right, they don't just ban accounts, but the S/N of the device as well. So double check that before handing over any money.

Ooh, I completely forgot about that, thanks.

One more question though; if I end up buying this but sometime in the future I got the RROD, is there anyway to fix that? (or is there anyway to prevent that?)

The slims are a lot less, although not immune to getting the RROD. In fact, I have fixed probably over 1500 regular XBoxes, PS3 fat and PS3 slims consoles for the red ring (or yellow light of death in the PS3's case) and have yet to have 1 360 slim come in for a red ring problem. I do see some have problems with it online and in others forums, so as I said, not immune, but rare so far.

I have seen lots of the slim 360's have crappy lasers that putz out rather soon though. About the only issue I've seen on them.

As for getting banned, that only happens on modded systems and the slim drive's aren't easily moddable so not many people modded them. You can test it in 30 seconds though, just connect to a network and run the network test in the settings menu. It will try to connect to live and banned box won't connect right at the first stage.

I cut a hole and added an external 80mm fan blowing in, chopped some more hole for outflow... mine was not a slim, but RROD was often a cooling issue so I figured it would help, I used a blue LED fan and it doesn't look bad.

Update: well, he said it wasn't banned and he also said the console, the cords and the controllers are in perfect working condition as well as cosmetic condition, although the console has a few scratches.

So, I think i'm gonna go ahead and buy it from him.

Anyway, I'm not sure who to pick as the best answer since everyone provided useful information :s
