Hi All,
I recently upgraded by PC and following are the basic specs.

Intel DH77EB Motherboard
i5 3450 Processor
Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 600W
Stock CPU Cooler
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) PC RAM (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R) [Waiting for it to be shipped]

What I am confused as of now is regarding which graphics card to choose. I am from India and would most probably order the card from

www.flipkart.com
Home/Computers/Computer Components/Graphic Cards

My budget is around 18000 INR to a maximum of 25000 INR.

Please let me know your feedback on which would be the best card in this range and which would go with my current system configuration.

Thanks a lot in advance :)

Thanks Novuake.. I use my 24 inch monitor. I can't really recall the correct display settings but I believe it is set to 1600*1200 resolution currently

Hmmm then that GTX660ti is a bit overkill, but at least you got some upgrade room if you want to move to 1080P.

on the amd side a 7950 or 7870xt from a local shop flipkart prices at least 10% more than the market price
on the nvidia side gtx gtx 660 or gtx 660 ti
now it depends upon ur preference a hd 7950 will be better at overclocking but gtx 660 ti will always have a better driver support

Yeah I normally prefer suggesting the HD7950/7870 LE/XT but they are expensive on flipcart compared to the GTX660ti.

Hi I89,
Thanks for your suggestion.
I am not really planning on overclocking the card and looking at an option so that I can play most of the games at good settings for say 2-3 years at which point I might further upgrade.
So I guess from your and Novuake's reply, gtx 660 ti seems good option.

@op

1)you need to upgrade psu to better brands.Coolermaster is not reputed brands.get seasonic s12 520@rs 3900

2)Avoid flipkart at any cost as it is big overpriced

3)you have following option to get gpu at local store:

1)Saphhire hd 7870xt @rs 18000

2)Asus gtx 660ti @19500

3)Saphhire hd 7950 3gb boost edition - rs 21500

hd 7870xt and gtx 660ti is very close in performance so it seems hd 7870xt boost is bang for buck.

while hd 7950 boost is way fas than those 2gpus and better at overclocking if needed in fuure

Thanks Ashish. I will checkout the prices of the cards that you suggested at local vendor as well and see which is the best option available. Do you really feel that I need to upgrade my PSU since I am not planning on overclocking anyways. I did read in a few reviews that CoolerMaster is not preferred but I already have that PSU. If you feel I risk my system with the PSU that I am currently using, I will definitely upgrade it. Or can i wait for sometime and later upgrade the same. What do you feel?

While CM is not good by any means, with 600W you won't be stressing it, so there is not much risk. I would not change it out unless it was under close to max load, which it will not be with your system.

it will run now,but for long run it is not reccomended.

You have very little understanding of PSUs right?

You just assume...

i suppose a gtx 660 ti would be slightly better then a 7870xt but buy one which is cheaper

dude beyond watts and +12v ratings there are many other factors that you have to look when buying psu.In the op case yes his system will run on it as his system rarely pulls over 350w.cm 600w extreme plus is one of the worst psus in reliability and efficiency it has more failure rate than other good psus. They are one of the most untrustworthy series and not recommended in any where.the other factors like improper ripples, capacitors, burnt resistors, are one of the cause of power supply failure.op is going to add high end gpu in that crap psu, defiently it is not a good idea. and also it is already discontinued in newegg

psu basics - http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/power-supply-cabinets-mods/104472-basic-guide-right-power-supply.html

if you donot beleive in me ,i donot care, watch some review of that psus in shopping sites and other sites

I know full well how bad the PSU is, BUT consider that he will not be stressing it, even when it failts the CM Extreme series are not known to take any components with it. So it would be POINTLESS to change it out until it fails unless you ahve the extra cash.

No more a chance than any other PSU when it fails. The PSU has decent protection functions in place despite its poor quality.

Look, I do not disagree that he needs to change it AT SOME POINT. But considering he has a budget, he can't chip into a graphics card budget just to get a different PSU. It makes no sense.

Thanks Ashish and Novuake for your inputs. I do agree that my current PSU needs upgrade, the only question would be when :)
I will check with local vendors and see the price difference of various cards.I will most definitely do a PSU upgrade as well as soon as possible. But in case I have to go for a PSU upgrade, I would like your opinion on how much watt CPU to go for considering any future upgrades.
