Hello
I am looking for those with the knowledge of overclocking and/or those with the same (specified) motherboard and CPU. Step-by-step guide please. Or, is the following the best to follow -- http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/283095-29-asus-p8z77-3770k ?

Here is the list of my part:
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77V-LX
CPU: Intel i7 3770K
RAM: Corsair 8GB x2 Vengeance (heatsink removed)
Heatsink: Noctua NH-D14
Thermal compound: Arctic Cooling MX-2

Please let me know.

At the moment, within Asus' BIOS (hit Delete when powering up.. don't know the name of this screen is called), I've selected "PERFORMANCE" out of the 3 options (Queit, Normal, Performance).

With this setting,
BIOS reports showing the overclocked speed at 4.4 GHz.

Booted up Windows 7.
Ran the IntelBurn Test at "Very High" stress level.

At the same time, Real Temperatures reports the following: 105 ; 103; 94; 85;

After about 35 minutes in, IntelBurn Test reports "Success! Your system was able to maintain its stability while running IntelBurn test. This is usually an indication that your CPU is fully stable,..."

+Should I worry that it's running at over 80 deg. Celsius?

im not and OC expert nor with any of the following components but no you should't be running over 80 degree.
and i recommend downclocking or undoing whatever you did at bios. 105c is WAY TOO MUCH man. im surprised its still running.
although im a little surprised to see that type of temps in a noctua D14.what was your CPU's voltage??

Those temps can not be right? Unless its Fahrenheit and not Celcius.

Anyway. Ocing in a reliable manner is done in the BIOS.

Here is a guide :
http://www.thinkcomputers.org/intel-ivy-bridge-overclocking-guide/

OK there is a guide, its not really for beginners, so it boils down to...

1. Disable all power saving adn turbo boost features and pick a load calibration, 1 being very stiff and one voltage constantly, 2 being a little more relax(easier to achieve stability), i prefer level 2.
2. Set voltage to fixed at first and drop it to 0.9v. (You can do this with stock cooling as it reduces heat generation)
3. Boot into windows and run prime 95 or similar stresstest to test for stability for atleast half an hour. This will give you an idea of how sensitive your specific CPU is to voltage change. (You can do this with stock cooling as it reduces heat generation)
4. Increase your voltage to 1.2v and multiplyer to 4.2GHz. Test thoroughly for an hour. Keep a close eye on temps with real temp or HWmonitor.

After that you can increase Multiplier one at a time testing for half an hour between each bump. When stability is lost, add 0.05v and try again.

Repeat process until you reach your desired OC or unacceptable temps(drop one clock and/or Voltage) and viola you have your OC...

DO NOT EXCEED 1.3V! Also keep temps under 90C under max load. Although if it touches over it its still fine. It will shut of automatically if it gets TOO hot(103C).

Here is a video that will familiarize you with the BIOS of your board.

Hahaha, absolutely, but no dice. I lost very hard in the silicon lottery.

LOL yeah, yours is THE WORST I have heard of... At least it hasn't got any issues at that voltage... Consider most Ivy chips sputter and die above 1.4v.

You probably got the edge of the wafer, or the outmost corner... OUCH!

Let click in calculator, Nope don't need that. 4.8 vs 4.6 is 0.2. 10% of 4.6 is 0.46, You have a piddling 4% gain over 4.6GHz!!!
Generally performance gain for CPU of less than 10 % is soooo smalllll that it is not noticed outside of runing a benchmark. To top that off runing at 80C.

So you've been lucky runing this long, I don't think it will last a year - and when it does go it could take more than just the CPU with it.

I guess you have more money than me, I'm only in the top 10% and my pocket change for blowing is only $800 per month. To be blunt some things are worth bragging about, others are NOT.. Take the guy that strapped a rocket to his car to beat record, opps one less in the gene pool as he left the road and smacked into the mountian on the OTHER side of the Valley.
