So I've been trying to do my own research on this, but I'm not getting a clear answer from anything I read.

Currently I run a dedicated gtx 550ti graphics card in conjunction with my intel i5 3550.

But as with most cpu's, there is a small amount of integrated graphics power- as in the i5 3550, it has the hd 2500.

I've seen the hd 2500 standalone play games like battlefield 3 on low settings and it blows my mind. With decent FPS!

So when I play games, are both "gpus" being used? Or is the 2500 left unused since there is a dedicated gpu?

... sigh.. I should go to tech school...

if you plug gtx 550ti in your system.onboard gpu will be automatically disabled.so no chance it is running

you cannot use both together at same time

Okay, well that was going to be my follow-up question.. like is there a way to make the 2500 do ONLY AA, and let the 550 ti do everything else? But I guess that's a no.

Still, I fill like there should be software out there somewhere that let's you mess around with those options.

haha. I guess I'll just develop the software myself. It's just a shame to have to waste power. thanks for quick reply.

IF your board supports it, you could use http://www.lucidlogix.com/product-virtu-mvp.shtml
This uses both the onboard and discreet GPU's for increasing performance.

Worth looking into.. never heard of anything like that before. Thanks for the feedback!
